Cancer Listings May Change
The Social Security Administration (SSA) is considering an update to some of its cancer listings in the Malignant Neoplastic Diseases Listings of Impairments. What follows is a brief rundown of the changes proposed:
-Change the body system title from “Malignant Neoplastic Diseases” to “Cancer”
-Revise, expand, and reorganize the section’s introduction
-Changes to the listings of the following cancers:
-Small-cell carcinoma will now be listed under multiple areas of origin
-Soft Tissue Cancers of the Head and Neck
-Malignant Melanoma
-Lymphoma
-Breast
-Nervous System
-Pancreas
-Cancers of the Female Genital Tract
-Skin
-Pediatric
These proposed changes would occur in sections 13.00 (and what follow) and 113.00 (and what follow). These changes would be the first updates to the listings since 2009.
